I am something of a magpie maker who works across a range of media (metalwork, wood, textiles, papier mache, mosaic). Like a magpie, I collect objects that catch my eye or think I can use in some way and gradually they find themselves being incorporated into my work. Vintage lampshades and kitchenalia are among my current passions.
As a metalsmith, I work mainly with recycled biscuit and sweet tins, exploiting the richness and range of their decorated surfaces to create three dimensional pieces for exhibition as well as decorative and functional objects for commission and to sell. Inspiration for all my work is drawn from folk and outside art, and text plays an important part, either as inspiration or as an element.
